DESIGN AND ENVIRONMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY SHOWS HOW ROOMS AND BUILDINGS CAN AFFECT THE OCCUPANTS HEALTH AND WELLBEING.

Understanding how design and psychology overlap in a symbiotic relationship is measured in human behaviour and seeks to understand their actions, beliefs and values as a way to shape our spaces.

SPATIAL FLOW OPTIMISATION AUDIT

Buildings need to understand how their occupants are using the space and the flow Optimisation Audit uses research tools to understand how a particular space is being used, assess the spatial and occupant needs and identify the activities performed.

Using quantitative and qualitative data to inform the spatial audit for new design, re-design or retro-fit.

EARLY STAGE DESIGN FEASIBILITY CONSULTATION

When problems arise in a space, or more space is required this consultation provides an in-depth review of current and ideal state (how the space is being used and how it needs to function for the future). A follow up report with plan layout and / or sketches is provided with technical input and advice on planning, building, and regulatory as required.

THE INCLUSIVE WORKPLACE- A SENSORY AUDIT

An inclusive workplace supports all employees and understands that people have different ways of processing information, interacting with others, and achieving goals. It ensures equal opportunities for all to succeed. This audit uses a Scorecard across Auditory, Olfactory, visual, haptic, spatial, vestibular, proprioception to assess and understand current state, cause and effect and make recommendations for Good Practice based on the needs of the organisation and employees.

DESIGN THINKING FOR BUSINESS GROWTH

For many business owners, making time to work strategically on a business can often be seen as a luxury. Not being able to see the bigger picture too can be frustrating and being busy often means you’re head down rather than head- up and forward focused. A design session demonstrates the importance of applying creative thinking in a business context in order to thrive strategically.

We believe that experimentation and exploration are an essential component to problem solving and unlocking a service, product, process or individual’s potential. We solve urgent problems in short-time, streamlined time-frames using a Lean Thinking approach in short periods of time and we enable deeper dialogue as a way to eliminate bias and a ‘ one opinion’ approach.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

We employed the services of Karen Douglas to help us align our team skills and web process. However, what we got out of the project was so much more. Karen worked directly with each team member to understand their role, skills and motivations, and only then, explored how these were best aligned to our process. She worked tirelessly with us at each stage of the process, willingly giving her time, expertise and support. The output of the work has totally changed how we work – both internally and externally. I would highly recommend Karen to any company of any size that needs direction on aligned people, strategy and process.

Sheila Gallogly Managing Director and Owner, Márla Communications

Karen brings a new dynamic to the recruitment process. Her unique approach ensures that both the Employer and the potential Employee’s expectations are met or surpassed. Her professionalism and resourcefulness are second to none. Karen is our first port of call for every placement in the highly competitive medical device sector.
